Japan likely to raise daily entry limit to 10,000 from April

The government is preparing to raise the daily upper limit on the number of people entering Japan to 10,000 from April, sources said.
The daily quota is currently set at 5,000 as part of border control measures against the novel coronavirus, but that figure will be raised to 7,000 from Monday. A further increase in the upper limit is being discussed as quarantine systems at airports and other related systems will likely be ready by April.
The government plans to accept over 100,000 foreign students to Japan by the end of May. Increasing the quota is part of efforts to welcome more international students.
