Japan strongly protests N. Korea’s ‘hypersonic’ missile launch

The government has made a strong protest through its embassy channels in Beijing to North Korea over its launch of a missile Wednesday that landed in the Sea of Japan.
Takehiro Funakoshi, director general of the Foreign Ministry’s Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, and Sung Kim, U.S. special representative for North Korea, held phone talks Thursday and confirmed the policies of close bilateral cooperation between Japan and the United States as well as trilateral cooperation with South Korea.
