More Than 57,000 Evacuees from Noto Peninsula Earthquake; Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi confirms at press conference

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said at a press conference Tuesday afternoon that he has confirmed that a total of 57,360 people were evacuated to 955 shelters in Ishikawa, Niigata, and other prefectures due to the massive earthquake that hit the Noto Peninsula and other areas.

According to Hayashi, about 120 requests for rescue have been received, and and support units, including 634 police, 2,037 firefighters, 1,030 members from Self-Defense Forces, and 22 Coast Guard members from other areas, have arrived in the affected areas to help.

Hayashi also expressed his gratitude for the sympathy and offers of assistance from around the world, and said, “We will work closely with other countries based on the damage and local needs.”
