4 former Tepco executives ordered to pay ¥13.32 trillion

The Tokyo District Court on Wednesday ordered four former executives of Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc. to pay a combined ¥13.32 trillion in damages related to the nuclear accident in the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant after the Great East Japan Earthquake and subsequent tsunami in March 2011.
In the lawsuit, individual Tepco shareholders had demanded five Tepco executives pay a combined ¥22 trillion to compensate for causing a massive loss to the company. Of the five, four including former chairman Tsunehisa Katsumata were ordered to pay compensation.
