Doctors announce Abe’s death

Doctors of the Nara Medical University Hospital in Kashihara, Nara Prefecture, announced the death of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at a press conference Friday evening.
Abe was shot in Nara City while campaigning with a candidate for the House of Councillors election.
He was taken to the hospital at 12:20 p.m. and the doctors said he died at 5:03 p.m.
According to the hospital, Abe had at least two gunshot wounds to his neck.
