Members of the Mie prefectural police’s anti-terrorism unit, clad in protective gear, inspect a liquid spread on the floor of a train during a counterterrorism drill on Thursday at Kintetsu Nabari Station in Mie Prefecture. Police, firefighters and Kintetsu Railway Co. staff participated in the drill, which was conducted under the scenario that a man was wielding a knife in the train car and had poured liquid on the floor. The training run comes in the wake of a series of similar attacks on passengers inside trains, including a recent one on a Keio Line train in Tokyo.
