KYOTO — If you have ever wanted to soak your tired feet while still enjoying a view of Kyoto, one spot in the city may be the place for you.
Visitors can relax their feet in a bath of natural hot spring waters while taking in a panoramic view of Kyoto City from a rooftop 31 meters above the ground.
Located in Shijo Kawaramachi, the city’s downtown area, the nine-story building houses two hotels — Sora Niwa Terrace Kyoto (102 rooms) and Bettei Kamogawa (32 rooms). Guests of either hotel can use the footbath of the shared Rooftop Lounge. The trough measures roughly 12 meters by 36 centimeters, with a long table and about 10 chairs allowing visitors to sit back, soak their feet and take in the view of the Kamo River and old capital while drinking a beverage of their choice.
“We hope you will come and enjoy the luxurious feeling as if you were looking down on Kyoto from the sky,” said an official from the facility.
