Cherry Blossoms Reach Full Bloom on Japan’s Ishikawa-Toyama Border

KANAZAWA — Approximately 6,000 yaezakura cherry trees are now in full bloom along the Kurikara mountain pass, located on the border between Ishikawa and Toyama prefectures.

Kurikara Fudoji temple in Tsubata, Ishikawa Prefecture, is hosting a cherry blossom festival which will last through Wednesday, when the blossoms will be at their peak. The temple grounds are bustling with many tourists.

At the festival, a variety of sweets are for sale, including pink-colored mochi. Visitors on Sunday enjoyed eating mochi while admiring the cherry blossoms and trying to capture the scene with their cameras.
