Suguru Osako finished highest among the Japanese runners in the Tokyo Marathon on Sunday, placing 12th in 2 hours 5 minutes 59 seconds and securing a spot in the men’s marathon at the Asian Games to be held in Nagoya this autumn.
Ethiopia’s Tadese Takele defended his title with a time of 2:03:37 on the course, which started in front of the Tokyo metropolitan government building and ended near JR Tokyo Station.
