MUTSU, Aomori — Someiyoshino cherry trees have reached their peak at Suigenchi Park in Mutsu, Aomori Prefecture.
According to the Kita no Sakimori Ominato Andokan, a local tourism and exchange facility adjacent to the park, the trees reached full bloom on Sunday and are expected to remain at their best through this weekend.
The park is home to about 200 cherry trees. On Friday, many visitors were seen capturing the scenery on their smartphones or enjoying hanami cherry blossom viewing parties, taking in the long-awaited arrival of spring.
“The blossoms are beautiful and wonderful,” said a part-time worker from the town of Rokunohe in the prefecture, who visited the park with her husband. “The wind isn’t strong today, so I’m glad we came.”
