29 New Infections Confirmed in Measles Outbreak at Elementary School in Tokyo’s Shinjuku Ward

Twenty-nine new infections were confirmed in a measles outbreak at an elementary school in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, the Tokyo metropolitan government said on Friday.

The newly confirmed patients include 24 children and 5 teachers, bringing the total number of infections at the school to 47. The school has currently suspended attendance for 1st graders.

According to the metropolitan government, the 47 people include 12 under the age of 9, 29 between the ages of 10 and 19, one in their 20s, three in their 30s, and two in their 40s.

None of them have a recent history of overseas travel.
