Ujikuni-zakura, a more than 160-year-old edohiganzakura cherry tree, is illuminated in Yorii, Saitama Prefecture, on Saturday.

SAITAMA — A more than 160-year-old edohiganzakura cherry tree is in full bloom at Hachigata Castle Park in Yorii, Saitama Prefecture.

The about 18-meter-tall tree is called Ujikuni-zakura after 16th-century feudal lord Hojo Ujikuni, who used to reside in the castle.

The tree will be illuminated between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. through April 5.
