High waves hit the breakwater at Udono Port in Kiho, Mie Prefecture, on Monday morning.

Typhoon No. 7, also known as Lan, is expected to make landfall on the Kii Peninsula on Tuesday morning and move across the Kinki region.
The slow-paced typhoon is expected to cause storms and heavy rainfall over a wide area for an extended period.
The Japan Meteorological Agency has warned that linear precipitation bands will likely develop, bringing heavy downpours to the Kinki, Tokai, Kanto-Koshin, Shikoku and Chugoku regions through Tuesday.
According to the agency, the typhoon was moving northwestward at a speed of around 15 kph, about 260 kilometers southeast of Cape Shionomisaki, Wakayama Prefecture, as of 9 a.m. on Monday.
It was moving with a central atmospheric pressure of 965 hectopascals and a maximum wind speed of 40 meters per second near the center. The maximum instantaneous wind speed was logged at 55 meters per second, causing a storm with a wind speed of 25 meters per second or higher within a radius of 110 kilometers from the center.
