NAHA — Japan defeated Cape Verde 80-71 at the FIBA Basketball World Cup on Saturday evening at Okinawa Arena in Okinawa Prefecture, securing the team’s spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics on their own for the first time in 48 years as the top Asian team from the World Cup.
