Japan PM Kishida Visits Okinawa; Tosses Jump Ball at Basketball World Cup Game

OKINAWA, Okinawa — Prime Minister Fumio Kishida watched the FIBA Basketball World Cup Group E game between Japan and Germany at Okinawa Arena in the city of Okinawa, Okinawa Prefecture, on Friday night.
Clad in a red Okinawan shirt, similar in color to the uniform of the Japanese national team, Kishida took part in a ceremonial jump ball before the game started.
Kishida was scheduled to stay in the prefecture until Saturday. He visited the site of restoration work on Shuri Castle, which was destroyed by fire in 2019, on the day.
