KANAZAWA — A memorial ceremony for the victims of the Noto Peninsula earthquake is being planned for New Year’s Day, one year after the quake struck, Ishikawa Gov. Hiroshi Hase has said.
Possible attendees at the ceremony, which will be held at the Noto Airport campus of the Japan Aviation Academy, include Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, mayors of the quake-hit municipalities and family members of victims.
“January 1 is an important day to express our condolences for those who have passed away. We would like to make this a place where people can offer silent prayers,” Hase said.
Hase plans to coordinate the details of the ceremony, including the attendees, at a later date.
