Sumo Wrestler Onosato Returns to His Native Ishikawa Prefecture; Meets Victims of Noto Peninsula Earthquake

KANAZAWA – Ishikawa Prefecture native komusubi Onosato, who recently became Summer Grand Sumo Tournament’s champion, visited a shelter in Kanazawa and mingled with the victims of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on Sunday.
“I realized that they are supporting me,” said Onosato, who noticed the expression of support after seeing an article about his performance in the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament. “I hope they can get closer to recovery as soon as possible. I will do my best to give a good performance at the next basho.”
