X Japan’s Yoshiki Sold His Crystal Piano for ¥40 Mil at Online Auction; All Proceeds Donated for Quake Reconstructions

Rock band X Japan’s leader Yoshiki’s beloved crystal piano fetched ¥40 million at an online auction to support the recovery from the damage caused by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake. All proceeds will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society through his not-for-profit organization Yoshiki Foundation America.
According to his social media accounts and an online auction site, the KAWAI CR-40N Crystal Grand Piano that was sold was one of Yoshiki’s favorite pianos that he had been using for over 10 years. Yoshiki, who has already donated ¥10 million through the Japanese Red Cross Society, put the piano on the auction site and received over 1,300 bids.
Yoshiki wrote on his official Instagram account: “I’m a little sad to say goodbye to my Crystal Piano, which is like family to me. But I think some people will be saved by this…Please cherish it!” In the post, he also vowed to continue his charity work.
