1 Killed, 3 Seriously Injured After Car, Truck Collide in Kobe

KOBE — A student was killed and three others were seriously injured after a compact car and a truck collided at an intersection in Hyogo Ward, Kobe, in the early hours of Friday, according to police.

The five passengers of the compact car, all of whom were 19-year-old male and female students at a vocational school in the prefecture, were taken to a hospital following the collision.

The compact car was reportedly attempting to turn right when it was struck by the truck, which was going straight.

According to the police, the truck driver, 66, was arrested on the spot. However, he was released the same day. He is currently being voluntarily questioned on suspicion of negligent driving causing death.
