Cherry blossoms in full bloom are seen at Maebashi Park in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, on Wednesday.

Cherry blossoms in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, have now reached full bloom, the Maebashi Meteorological Office announced on Wednesday.

This is four days earlier than average and six days earlier than last year, due to a recent string of warm days. The blossoms reached full bloom 11 days after they first bloomed on March 22.

350 cherry trees are currently at their peak at the city’s Maebashi Park, where a cherry blossom festival is ongoing. Families and others enjoyed the arrival of spring by taking photos and participating in various activities in the morning, before rain began falling in the afternoon. “The flowers are large this year, and their color is beautiful.” A high school senior visiting with his family from Nishio, Aichi Prefecture, said with satisfaction.
