A strong preliminary magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck near Indonesia at about 7:48 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The agency said that there may be some slight fluctuations in sea level along the Japanese coast, but there is no cause for concern regarding damage.

According to the agency, there is a possibility of a tsunami occurring in the Pacific Ocean.
