Cherry Blossoms Arrive in Japan’s Miyazaki City

MIYAZAKI — Someiyoshino cherry blossoms have begun blooming in Miyazaki City, one day later than the average year and on par with last year, the Miyazaki Local Meteorological Office announced Tuesday.

An official of the office confirmed that five flowers had bloomed on the sample tree in the office’s grounds in the city at about 10 a.m. It will depends on weather, but the blossoms are expected to reach full bloom in about a week to 10 days.

Miyazaki City, the capital of Miyazaki Prefecture, faces the Pacific Ocean in the southern part of Kyushu, known as the Yomiuri Giants’ spring training camp site.
