Central Japan Railway Co., also known as JR Tokai, will increase the number of child-friendly cars on the Tokaido Shinkansen’s Nozomi trains between May 1 and 6, the latter part of the Golden Week holiday period, citing popularity when it did so last year, the company has said.
The number will be 70, up 24 from last year.
These cars are designed so that passengers traveling with children can ride without worrying about disturbing others. Such cars will be the 12th car on two to eight trains per day in each direction between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka stations.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. one month prior to the travel date, and they can be purchased via the EX Service, at stations and travel agency counters, and at reserved-seat ticket vending machines.
