M3.1 Earthquake Hits Southern Japan’s Kumamoto Pref.; No Tsunami Expected

A magnitude 3.1 earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture at about 3:08 p.m. on Saturday, registering 3 out of 7 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale in Minamata in the prefecture.
No tsunami was expected, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
