Popular music duo Yuzu will serve as official ambassadors for the International Horticultural Expo 2027, Yokohama, the expo’s association announced on Thursday, one year ahead of the event’s opening.
During the expo, 10 million flowers and green plants will adorn an approximately 100-hectare venue that formerly served as a U.S. military facility.
Yuzu members Yujin Kitagawa and Koji Iwasawa, both from Yokohama, will write a collaborative song for the event. The two also planted a yuzu tree at the venue on March 1.
“I hope to express the beauty, tenderness and strength of trees and flowers in the song,” Kitagawa said.
According to the Japan Association for the International Horticultural Expo 2027, Yokohama, actress Mana Ashida will also serve as an official ambassador.
Also on Thursday, an announcement was made about the exhibits by sponsoring companies. Taisei Corp. unveiled an image of a planned wooden observation terrace overlooking the venue.
