Average temperatures for June-August are expected to be higher than normal nationwide, although not as high as last summer, which was the hottest since statistics began in 1898, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency’s forecast released on Tuesday. The agency urges people to take adequate measures against heat stroke.

Precipitation is expected to be near normal levels in northern Japan and normal or above normal levels in eastern and western Japan.

The agency said that the frequency of heavy rainfall has been increasing in recent years during the rainy season nationwide and paying close attention to the latest weather information is necessary.
