The temperature in Japan is expected to be roughly average in February, warmer than usual in March and normal or warmer in April, according to a three-month weather forecast issued on Tuesday by the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Since the temperature will change greatly from February to March, the agency called for vigilance against avalanches caused by rising temperatures.

The amount of snowfall on the Sea of Japan side of northern Japan is expected to be lower than in an average year. According to the agency, however, very cold air will briefly cover the Sea of Japan side of the country for a period of time during February, which may bring heavy snowfall.
