Five crew members of a Japan Coast Guard aircraft that collided with a Japan Airlines plane at Haneda Airport in Tokyo on Tuesday have been confirmed dead, according to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. The captain, who was able to escape, was injured.
The JCG plane was traveling down the runway at Haneda Airport to take off and head for an air base in Niigata City, where it was to transport supplies to the disaster-hit area following Monday’s massive Noto Peninsula earthquake, the agency said.
