Flower-studded streetcar runs special trips for Sapporo city government’s 100th
11:24 JST, August 7, 2022
A streetcar decorated with colorful artificial flowers runs through Sapporo’s Susukino district as pedestrians take photos, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the city government’s founding. Originally a snowplow train, the car is now touring the city center five times a day on weekends and holidays through Aug. 21. The anniversary has brought the flower train back to the Hokkaido capital for the first time since 1998, when it was run to celebrate the Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo becoming a J. League soccer team.
