Pro Table Tennis Player Arrested for Indecency Against Student’s Mother; Suspected of Touching Her Body Under Guise of Massage

Kaii Konishi, a professional table tennis player in Toda, Saitama Prefecture, was arrested for allegedly committing indecent acts without consent, local police said Tuesday.
According to the police, Konishi, 43, was suspected of touching his student’s mother for about 20 minutes from around 5:05 p.m. on Aug. 7 at a table tennis school in the city where he coaches. He told the police that he was giving her a massage and denied any intent to touch her inappropriately.
Konishi reportedly called the mother on the phone, and when they were alone, he touched her body under the guise of a massage.
Konishi won the All Japan Table Tennis Championships in 2005 and 2006, and was also active in the professional table tennis league.
