Abe shooting suspect an ‘ex-MSDF member’

Tetsuya Yamagami, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Friday’s shooting of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, is a former Maritime Self-Defense Force member, according to a government source. The 41-year-old suspect, of Nara City, was said to have served in the MSDF until 2005, the source said. The Defense Ministry is gathering information about the man.
