Linking Policy

In principle, you are free to link to sites operated by The Yomiuri Shimbun, including The Japan News website, but please follow the conditions below. Please note that an article may be deleted after you have set up a link to our website, and the link will therefore cease to work.

“We,” “us” and “our” refer to The Yomiuri Shimbun.

Link Conditions

1. Do not use our content in a way that may damage the honor or dignity of The Yomiuri Shimbun or cause us to suffer an economic loss.

2. Do not use trademarks including logos or other symbol marks owned by The Yomiuri Shimbun.

3. Do not use links to The Yomiuri Shimbun websites as part of commercial activity.

4. Make sure that your links to Yomiuri Shimbun articles are clearly recognizable as such to third parties. Do not use link buttons of your own making.

5. Do not show images or illustrations from our sites directly on your site.

6. Do not create links that incorporate our sites within your own frame.

7. Displaying headlines, articles, photos, illustrations and other content when linking to our sites may violate the Copyright Law. If you want to include our contents in your link to our sites, you are requested to obtain prior permission to do so from The Yomiuri Shimbun. The Yomiuri Shimbun may charge a fee for the use of our contents.

8. The Yomiuri Shimbun and its information suppliers are not liable for any problems, including those that may involve a lawsuit, related to your website’s links to Yomiuri Shimbun websites. Any such problems will be your responsibility and handled at your expense. If The Yomiuri Shimbun incurs damage as a result of your site’s links to its websites, The Yomiuri Shimbun may demand indemnity for the damage done.
