HOKUEI, Tottori — Two sculptures of characters from the popular “Detective Conan” anime were recently installed on a street in Hokuei, Tottori Prefecture.
The sculpture set depicts core character Masumi Sera and protagonist Conan Edogawa. They join other characters’ sculptures along the town’s “Conan Street.”
Hokuei is the birthplace of Gosho Aoyama, the creator of the series. He depicts Sera, a high school student and detective, as an enigmatic figure approaching Conan in an attempt to uncover his secret. The sculptures, titled “The Two with Many Secrets,” are posed as if they are whispering to each other.
Just ahead of the two characters stands a sculpture of Ran Mori, the childhood friend of Shinichi Kudo — Conan’s true identity. Ran, in her school uniform, walks alongside her best friend Sonoko Suzuki. The new sculptures create a composition as if Sera and Conan are having a secret conversation behind Ran and Sonoko on their way to school.
The new sculptures were unveiled on March 15 during a ceremony celebrated by many Conan fans.
“The angle of Sera-san talking to Conan-kun looks realistic and good,” said a girl from Mitoyo, Kagawa Prefecture.
