The annual Ogaki boat cruise event has begun on the Suimon River, which flows through Ogaki City in Gifu Prefecture. Someiyoshino cherry blossoms along the river are now in full bloom, and tourists can enjoy the spring scenery from the boats.
About 150 Someiyoshino cherry trees line the riverbanks and will be illuminated from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. until April 5. According to the Ogaki Tourism Association, the blossoms are nearing full bloom, and their peak viewing period is expected to last through next week.
Boats depart from Takasago district in the city and take a 30-minute cruise covering approximately 1.1 kilometers to Basho’s Oku no Hosomichi Haiku Journey Museum in Funamachi. While reservations for this weekend are nearly full, there are still openings on weekdays.
