International flight reservations jump 4.6-fold for summer

TOKYO (Jiji Press) — Reservations for international flights for the Bon summer holiday period have increased 4.6-fold from the year-before levels, data released by major Japanese airlines showed Friday.

International flight bookings numbered some 275,000 between Aug. 6 and 16, hitting 73% seat occupancy during the period, up from 31% a year before.

Reservations for domestic flights rose 1.7-fold to some 2,998,000, or about 65% of available seats.
