NEW YORK — Subaru Corp. has unveiled its new Getaway electric vehicle to the press, the company’s fourth mass-produced EV.

The Getaway will be manufactured at a Toyota Motor Co. plant in the United States, where the model was jointly developed. Subaru plans to introduce it to the North American market in the second half of 2026.

The vehicle was showcased at the New York International Auto Show, which opened Wednesday. The SUV has three rows of seats and can accommodate up to seven passengers. It is expected to have a driving range of more than 480 kilometers on a single charge.

It will also be compatible with the fast-charging network operated by Tesla, the leading U.S. EV maker.

Demand in the United States for EVs had been showing signs of slowing after the Trump administration ended support measures. However, sales have reportedly been rising since March, partly because of higher crude oil prices.
