TOKYO (Jiji Press) — A new hotel inspired by the “Toy Story” film series opened in Tokyo Disney Resort in the city of Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, on Tuesday.
The 11-story hotel with one underground floor has an exterior designed to look like colorful toy blocks.
In front of the entrance are giant statues of popular Toy Story characters, including Buzz Lightyear, and guest rooms are themed on that of the toy’s owner Andy.
This is the fifth Disney hotel in Japan, with a standard room capable of accommodating four adults priced from ¥28,500 per night, cheaper than at others including the luxury Disney Ambassador Hotel.
The new hotel was initially slated to open in fiscal 2021, which ended in March, but the schedule was delayed due to the novel coronavirus epidemic. Its construction costs totaled ¥31.5 billion.
