KYOTO — Autumn foliage and the famous wooden stage at Kiyomizudera temple are warmly illuminated against a twilit sky in Kyoto during an evening viewing event that runs until Nov. 30.
About 1,000 bright momiji maple trees on the grounds of the temple, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, are beautifully illuminated.
A major renovation project including the main hall was completed in March. Visitors can now enjoy views of the Kiyomizu no Butai stage along with a night view of the city.
The evening viewing event begins at 5:30 p.m. and entry closes at 9 p.m. Admission is ¥400 for adults and ¥200 for elementary and junior high school students.
