OSAKA — A giant statue of Myaku-Myaku, the official mascot of the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, has been relocated to the Asia and Pacific Trade Center (ATC) in Suminoe Ward, Osaka.
Depicting the character in a reclining pose, the statue is 3.3 meters wide and 2 meters tall. Previously installed at the Osaka City Office, it was moved so that visitors could reminisce about the Expo, which closed in October, at a location closer to the Expo venue.
A welcome ceremony was held on Saturday with attendees including Osaka Mayor Hideyuki Yokoyama.
A 6-year-old kindergartener from Osaka City’s Abeno Ward smiled and said: “Myaku-Myaku looks happy to have moved to a warm place. I want to come back lots of times.”
Myaku-Myaku will remain at the ATC through the end of March.
