Woman Stabbed in Front of Music Venue in Tokyo’s Akasaka District; Suspect Flees the Scene

A woman in her 40s was stabbed in the left side of her abdomen and other areas by a man with a knife outside a live music venue in the basement of a commercial building in the Akasaka district of Minato Ward, Tokyo, at about 10:25 a.m. on Sunday.
According to the Akasaka Police Station, the woman is believed to have been scheduled to perform at the music event. She was transported to a hospital with serious injuries and was conscious at the time of transport. The police are investigating the case as an attempted murder and are looking for a man who fled the scene after the incident.
According to a senior officer at the police station, the woman was waiting alone for the venue to open when she was suddenly attacked by the man. The woman reportedly told the police, “I don’t know him.”
The man was wearing black work clothes and a black cap. A concert, which had been scheduled at the location at 1 p.m., was canceled due to the incident.
The scene is located in an area lined with restaurants and other establishments, about 150 meters southwest of Tokyo Metro Akasaka-Mitsuke Station.
