Tohoku Shinkansen services have resumed as of 5 p.m. on Sunday, following a suspension between Tokyo and Morioka stations, according to East Japan Railway Co.

The services were suspended when a bullet train malfunctioned and stopped between stations.

Yamabiko No. 63, which was heading from Tokyo to Morioka, stopped between Omiya and Oyama stations at around 2:10 p.m. on Sunday.

According to JR East, the train restarted at 3:55 p.m. after an inspection and headed toward Oyama Station at a reduced speed. The train carried about 560 passengers, who were to transfer to a different Shinkansen train at Oyama Station.
