Japan Foreign Minister Informs Palestinian Counterpart of Additional $65 Million in Aid

TEL AVIV / AMMAN — Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa met with Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki in the Palestinian city of Ramallah in the West Bank on Friday and informed him of Japan’s intention to provide about $65 million (¥9.7 billion) in additional aid.
Earlier on the day, Kamikawa visited Tel Aviv, central Israel, and met with her Israeli counterpart Eli Cohen, calling for a temporary suspension of fighting for humanitarian purposes.
At her meeting with the Israeli foreign minister, Kamikawa said she “firmly condemns terrorist attacks by Hamas.” She also told Cohen, “All actions should be taken in accordance with international law, including international humanitarian law.”
